Summary: Mirabel is a teenager living in a enchanted house in a village in Colombia. Ever since her grandmother was blessed with the magical house, every child who turns five receives a magical gift. Every child, that is, except Mirabel. Mirabel tries to act completely fine about it. Really she’s unhappy about it and has begun to grow irritated by her older perfect gifted sister. On the night of her younger cousin's ceremony for receiving his gift, Mirabel has a vision of their magical house breaking apart. She fears the family’s magic is in danger, but none of her family believes her, especially her grandmother. So, Mirabel decides to find out what is happening and find a way to fix it. To be continued....

Why?: I like this movie because it has lots of great songs and the story is full of exciting and fun parts.
Scary Scale (1-10): 2/10
Why?: One scary part is before the the movie begins in the theater, there is a raccoon short about a raccoon mother who does not let her baby go outside of the den. At one point the baby sneaks outside for long enough that she meets a wolf who wants to eat him. His mother catches her, just in time but she gets a scar and later when the baby racoon grows up, she wants to protect her baby too. I dislike it because it was sort of sad that the baby gets a scratch, and it was not connected to the movies story. I had to see it before the real movie because in the theaters they connected the two.
The scary part in the actual movie is a flashback from when Abuela was a young adult. She and Mirabel's Abuelo had to leave their home when their city gets attacked and the attacking army kills Abuelo but it is off-screen.
